This page contains photos of some of the BMW Solo Bikes we have owned.  We had a few others but can't find any pictures of them (we also had numerous BMW parts bikes).

1974 R90/6  (Our 1st BMW) branny new too!

We rode Harley's for several years before switching to the BMW.  We got tired of adding (and packing) oil, adjusting chains, making expensive repairs and being passed on all types of roads by 600 cc BMW twins.  We put about 46K on this bike, about half of that was with a Ural sidecar, (lousy sidecar rig).

1976 R90/6  (Our 2nd Beemer)  new too!

We traded a Toyota Land Cruiser with 12K on it (after doing the Alcan Hwy) for this new Beemer.  We put about 60K trouble free miles on this bike before selling it.  Very reliable but not smooth.

1973 R75/5  (Commuter)  used a bit

Bought this bike for $600 and rode it to work for about four years.  Very smooth engine and good runner, put over 80K on this beemer.  (a good one).

1979 R100S  (40th Birthday Present)

I found this bike used here in San Diego with only 6K on it for $3,200.  That was a good buy at that time but it turned out that I really never liked the bike that much.  There was something wrong with the front end, it was very harsh riding and I could never get it sorted out right.  The bike was very noisy as well (valve noise from the fairing).  I managed to put about 15K miles on it before getting discusted and trading it in on a new 1983 Honda Aspencade.  The Honda was very reliable but it was heavy and not to sporty in the twisties.

1974 R75/6  (best boxer we have owned)

Bought this bike used from a friend with only 16K on it for $1,500 and rode it back & forth to work for about six years.  Had 144K on when I sold it in 1997.  Very smooth, had a lot of nice accessories like lesters, SS pipes, 8.5 Gal tank, dual disks. S fairing.
