Every year about April - May, we get the itch to get out and do a long haul ride. We ride all year long here in southern California, but we like to get out of state and put some miles on un-familiar roads. You just can't do it in the winter, so this is our first chance to get out and stretch our legs, besides it's the best time of year to ride, everything is green and the hot temperatures haven't set in yet. This year we decided to take a side trip to Rachel Nevada home of the "Aliens" and of course the "Extraterestrial Highway". We did this in conjunction with attending two BMW rallies, the first one being the PIT's rally at Flagstaff Arizona and the second one was the 49er rally at Quincy California. This year the weather was unusually cold, but it suited us just fine. Night time temperatures at Flagstaff dipped to 27 degrees, good thing we towed our trailer with electric heater and electric blanket. The temperature during the daylight hours got up to 50-55 which was perfect for riding. The Flagstaff rally was low key as usual but it was nice seeing old friends. After attending the PIT's rally we headed for Rachel via an overnight stop at Beaver Utah, (had to go there for Maria's Mexican Food). On Monday, 18 May, we headed for Rachel Nevada and this is what we found:

The first thing we found at Rachel was that there was no place to camp. So we got a motel room (trailer for $31 a night). While cleaning the bugs off the bike we heard the sound of breaking glass. With amasement we noticed that the girl who rented us the room was drinking the left overs from the empty beer bottles before breaking them in the burn barrel (true). After taking a luke warm bath we went to the Little A'LE'INN for dinner (about dark). The food was reasonably priced but of cardboard quality. The place is interesting though, lots of UFO pictures on the walls and a well stocked gift shop of UFO paraphernalia (if your into that sort of stuff). Then all of a sudden it happened, while finishing our dinner the Aliens showed up, (space ship and all).

This female Alien looked a lot like the girl who was emptying the beer bottles, hum, I wonder? No, I think she was a real UFO !

I jumped up and headed for the trailer to get the camera and recorded these photos. As you can see, they were very friendly, the female Alien sat on my lap and posed for pictures (can't show you the nude ones) and they even let Kathy hold one of the baby Aliens for awhile. After saying our good bye's, we went for a walk to work off dinner. That was when we noticed all the UFO's in the night sky (lots of them, may have been jets from Area 51 or Nellis AFB). At about 1:00 in the morning the sonic boom hit and I thought the trailer would collapse. We got up in the morning, had breakfast at the same place (no Aliens this time) and left. Well there you have it, Rachel, Aliens, UFO's, Airplanes, Area 51, etc. The pictures tell the rest of the story. Now do you really believe in Alien's and UFO's ?

Being a pediatric nurse can come in handy when your dealing with UFO's because the Alien's are hard to communicate with, (motherhood language).
